Here it is – you have arrived in Toronto. You’re at the airport and you need to get to your hotel or destination quickly, safely and with as few hitches as possible. Your options are limited though you do have a selection of different services. You could take a taxi, hop on the bus, maybe ride the train into town, rent a car or get a limo. If you’re looking to travel in style and luxury, you’re really limited to the limo, though let’s discuss why.
Taxis are a hot mess in Toronto. Similar to New York you’ll be looking at a cab driver who probably speaks less English than he does French that never learned to not ride on the brakes and ALSO believes that his taxi is a NASCAR vehicle. The interior probably reeks of a hundred thousand people that hopped in and out in a matter of weeks and you’re definitely going to be charged too much – after all, you’re coming from the airport. You’re probably a tourist. This is still not mentioning the customary tip for the driver, even if he does have a lead foot and bad breath.

Busses are crowded, jerky and unsafe. If you get hit while riding on a bus, chances are you’re going to wind up suffering some type of damage because most busses don’t have seatbelts. Busses may be inexpensive, but can you put a price on your safety? Let’s hope not.
Train rides can be enjoyable but you suffer the same element of crowdedness as with the bus. Perhaps what’s worst with a train is the inability to get out before the next stop. If someone throws up next to you, you’re going to have to wait and bear it until you get to the train’s next stop. At least with the busses you can pull the cord or raise your hand for the driver to stop.
Car rentals are a popular means of transportation but to get anything that’s fun to drive, you will need to pay out the nose for it. Economy cars are dinky and any damage done to them is your fault entirely. They are typically all non-smoking vehicles so if you light up, you won’t be on your ride to and from where you’re headed. Also, the rental cars are just like your car at home – when you run out of fuel, you’re once again at the mercy of the pumps.

Now let’s return to the limo idea. For a flat rate that covers a span of 5 hours usually, (special rates are available for day or weekly rentals at most limo companies) you can decide which vehicle best suits your needs and budget. There are HUGE limos these days: Lincoln stretch Navigators, Excursions and even stretch Hummers. If you want to take out a bunch of people for a night on the town and really razzle-dazzle your guests, consider a big limo. For the more budget-minded folks, the classic Lincoln stretch Town Car is available at most companies and if you don’t need a full five hours, negotiate on it. You can usually get a pro-rated price.
